An economist by training, Dr Mendoza worked as Senior Economist with the United Nations in New York together with has published books on international development, public finance, together with international cooperation. He is a recipient of various awards, including the 2012 National Academy of Science together with Technology’s Ten Outstanding Young Scientist in the Philippines (in Economics), the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders in 2013, together with Devex 40 Under 40 Development Leader, also in 2013. Dean Mendoza obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Honors Program) from the Ateneo de Manila University, his Master’s in Public direction together with International Development (MPA-ID) from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, together with his MA together with PhD in Economics from Fordham University.
Established in 2001, the Jaime V Ongpin Annual Memorial Lecture on Public Service in Business together with Government aims to increase the awareness of the Filipino people about pressing national development issues. The annual lecture is Intended to keep alive the spirit of Mr Jaime V Ongpin, public servant together with business leader whose leadership, wisdom, together with boundless generosity in service continue to inspire Filipinos in the business together with public sectors, together with from all walks of life, to come together together with help bring about positive changes to the nation’s growth. Notable lecturers include former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales (2019), Dr Maria Lourdes A Carandang (2017), former Undersecretary Admiral Alexander P Pama (2014), Mr John Nery (2013), Atty Christian S Monsod (2010), Dr Alberto G Romualdez Jr (2009), Senator Edgardo J Angara (2008), Fr Joaquin G Bernas SJ (2006), Justice Florentino P Feliciano (2003), together with Professor Randolf S David (2001).
