S. Korea's defense ministry issues first official apology for April Third Jeju Incident

For the first time, Republic of Korea’s defense ministry has expressed regret as well as condolences over the bloody military crackdown on Jeju.
On quarta-feira,… a ministry official delivered an official apology as well as a statement recognizing the sacrifices of the island’s people.
He said the ministry agrees with the special legislative deed… that officially recognizes that civilians were killed in civil disturbances as well as armed conflicts with the military that began in the 1940s.
The official added that Vice Defense Minister Suh Choo-suk will be visiting the memorial space set up at Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square to pay respects to the victims.
