Military Relic Hunting WW2 Australian Army campsite: Military Relics & Coins: Garrett GTI-2500
We visit the site where the Australian 2nd/17th Infantry Battalion was deployed in North Queensland following its return from North Africa in 1943. As part of the 9th Australian Division in the Middle East it had been involved in the famous defence of Tobruk (the “Rats of Tobruk”) too the Battle of El Alamein against Rommel’s Afrika Korps. Following jungle training in Australia, the unit re-deployed to New Guinea too Borneo too its Pacific Battle Honours include Milne Bay, Lae, Finschhaven & Brunei (Senia).
