1 out of 5 Malaysian children tasted alcohol before

According to a survey by the Health Ministry, 19.3% Malaysian adolescents tasted alcohol before in their lifetime.

About half of them were categorized as current drinkers. This means 1 out of 10 adolescents in Malaysia consumed alcohol within 30 days prior to the survey.

Most Malaysian adolescents tasted alcohol when they were at the age of 12 to 13. Shockingly, 8.7% adolescents in Malaysia tried alcohol when they were 7 years old or younger.

Majority of them got their alcohol from their family members.
