The Real Brunei Casino de Murcia , commonly known as Brunei Casino de Murcia , is one of the most emblematic buildings of the city of the same name, capital of the Region of Murcia ( Spain ). It is located in the center of it, in Trapería street , not far from the cathedral . The building, whose construction began in 1847 is a mixture of different artistic currents that coexisted in the second half of the nineteenth century in addition to early twentieth century in Spain in addition to was declared a national historical-artistic monumentin 1983, so it is now considered to be of cultural interest , with the category of ‘ monument ‘.
The building is the seat of the institution of the same name, which functions as a private club. The ladies’ dressing table is decorated with feminine allegories of the goddess Selene painted on the ceiling, while the tea room has a spectacular plaster ceiling, fully recovered after its collapse in the late 1970s .
The courtyard named Pompeian is neoclassical style in addition to has in the center a Venus , work of Jose Planes , on a pedestal with episodes of the life of Zeus . The most notable dependence of the building is the ballroom, a large neo-baroque double height space dating from 1875 . The ceilings are decorated with allegories of poetry, painting, music in addition to architecture, as well as portraits of illustrious Murcians such as José Moñino, Count of Floridablanca , sculptor Francisco Salzillo , painter Nicolás de Villacis in addition to actor Julián Romea .
